Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling in NIPCCD

National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development is an institution set up by the Indian ministry of women and child development. The course is focused on the development and promotion of voluntary action in social development through training & capacity building of Government and Non-Government functionaries, Takes a comprehensive view of child development through research and develops tools/design for supporting the implementation of Government schemes and programs.

The Institute launched ‘Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling’ in the year 2005 to train the manpower to work in the area of child and adolescent mental health. The course is under affiliation with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi and is also recognized from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). So far the Institute has organized thirteen batches of the course.

The Advanced Diploma has been designed to train professionals for undertaking counseling and guidance of children and families in different settings. It has been planned with a Developmental, Ecological and Rights Perspective to enable the learner to function effectively as a mental health professional with an understanding of theoretical constructs, and skills. The inherent emphasis of the programs is on ‘Development of Self’ and ‘Acquisition of Skills’ through experiential and action learning. The course’s vision is to create professional and personal growth opportunities for those working with children and child-related systems so as to enable children to actualize their potential. 

Kay highlights of the course are

  • This Advanced Diploma is a regular, one-year program including 2 months of internship.
  • Eligibility for admission is Master’s Degree in Social Work/ Psychology/ Child Development/ Community Resource Management/ Development Communication Extension/ Education / Special Education / Nursing or Graduate in the same field with a minimum of five years of regular experience of working with children or B.Ed with minimum four years of experience.
  • The medium used and medium of examination would be English. They also expect that the learner will submit the assignments and fieldwork reports in English. 
  • No of seats available for the course is 30 only.

Applications usually invited in the month of July by the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development.
