Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD), Lucknow, has released the application form for the Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (ADCGC) for the academic year 2026–27. SPNIWCD Lucknow offers the program in collaboration with Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), and the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) recognizes it.

SPNIWCD was previously known as The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD).

About the ADCGC Program

The Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (ADCGC) offered by SPNIWCD Lucknow, is a one-year full-time regular program that includes:

  • 10 months of coursework
  • 2 months of internship
  • Medium: English (for both coursework and fieldwork)
  • Affiliated University: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow

Eligibility Criteria for the ADCGC Program

To apply for the ADCGC program at SPNIWCD Lucknow, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • A Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, Human Development & Family Studies, or Social Work with:
    • 50% marks (for General candidates) &
    • 45% marks (for SC/ST candidates) from a UGC-recognized university, OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the above fields, along with an MEd from a UGC-recognised university

NOTE: Candidates awaiting their final results are also eligible to apply. However, they must submit proof of qualification at the time of admission, failing which their admission will be cancelled.

Method of Selection for the ADCGC Program

Admission to the SPNIWCD Lucknow’s ADCGC program is based on a two-stage selection process:

  • Stage 1: Written Entrance Test – 75 marks
    • Minimum qualifying marks: 33%
    • Relaxation applicable as per the GoI norms
  • Stage 2: Personal Interview – 25 marks
    • Conducted to assess the candidate’s motivation, interest, and suitability for counselling as a profession

Entrance Exam Pattern for ADCGC Program

Written Entrance Test

  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Sections Covered (syllabus):
    • General & Social Awareness
    • Logical Reasoning & Problem-Solving Ability
    • English Language Comprehension
  • No negative marking

Important Guidelines:

  • Eligible candidates will be notified via email, and no separate admit card will be issued.
  • Candidates must carry a valid photo ID and a copy of the confirmation email.

Personal Interview

The interview aims to evaluate:

  • Interest in counselling
  • Motivation to pursue the field
  • Overall aptitude for a counselling career

IMPORTANT NOTE: Both the written test and interview will be conducted at the SPNIWCD Regional Centre, Lucknow.

Application Submission Process

  • Candidates can access the application form for SPNIWCD Lucknow’s ADCGC program below (attached at the end of this article). They are required to download, print, and carefully fill out the form before submission.
  • Candidates then need to carefully attach all the necessary documents to it.
  • The completed application form, along with the prescribed fee, must reach the Institute on or before April 13, 2026, 5:30 PM.
  • Application Fee (Non-Refundable):
    • SC/ST/PwD candidates: Rs 400
    • Other candidates: Rs 800
  • Mode of Payment: The application fee can be paid through:
    • Online transfer (in favour of SPNIWCD, Regional Centre, Lucknow), or
    • Cash payment at the Institute’s cash counter
    • In case of online payment, candidates must attach a copy of the UTR (transaction receipt) along with the application form.

1. Is the ADCGC course recognized by RCI?

Yes. The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) recognizes the program, allowing eligible graduates to apply for RCI registration after completing the course.

2. What designation is given by RCI after completing the ADCGC program?

After completing the course and passing all theory and practical examinations, candidates can apply for registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). Upon approval, they receive a license as a Rehabilitation Counsellor.

3. Does SPNIWCD directly provide the RCI license?

No. SPNIWCD provides the required documents, such as the provisional certificate, marksheet, and authentication letter. Candidates must upload these documents to the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) online portal, after which the RCI verifies them and issues the license.

4. Can candidates choose a language other than English for the entrance exam?

Currently, SPNIWCD conducts both the entrance examination and the course only in English.
