The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the UGC NET December 2025 results on 4th February 2026 for all 85 subjects, including Psychology.

UGC NET December 2025
The UGC-NET December session exam was held from 31st December 2025 to 7th January 2026. A total of 735,614 students appeared for the exam on 85 subjects, including psychology. The exam was conducted in the computer-based test (CBT) mode across 283 cities.
UGC NET JRF December 2025 Psychology Cut-off
For the UGC-NET JRF December 2025 (Psychology) results, the General/Unreserved category recorded the highest cut-off marks: JRF cut-off of 234, Assistant Professor cut-off of 206, and PhD Only cut-off of 182. A total number of 45, 811, and 1,592 candidates qualified for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD only, respectively.
In the OBC (NCL) category, the JRF cut-off was 218, while the Assistant Professor was 186, and Phd only 164. A total number of 28, 439, and 862 candidates qualified for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD only, respectively. For the EWS category, JRF cut-off was 224, Assistant Professor was 188, and PhD only was 160. A total of 7, 121, and 160 candidates qualified for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD only, respectively.
The SC and ST categories had slightly lower cut-offs. The SC category’s JRF was 208, Assistant Professor was 174, and the PhD was 152. A total of 19, 180, and 317 candidates qualified for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD only, respectively. For the ST category, the JRF was 208, Assistant Professor – 170, and the PhD only cut-off was 152. A total of 5, 73, and 147 candidates qualified for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD only, respectively.

Why is the UGC-NET JRF Result Important?
Clearing the UGC-NET exam presents various opportunities in psychology, especially in the field of academia and research. Candidates who clear the JRF part of the exam get a monthly stipend/funding to pursue research, independent or through a PhD in psychology. Candidates can also apply for the positions of Assistant Professor [of Psychology] at any university or college in India.
Many universities now require a valid UGC NET score for PhD Psychology admissions in India, making the UGC NET exam necessary for students who want to do research or get a doctorate in psychology.
