The University of Delhi has announced online application from eligible candidates for admissions into PhD in Psychology program for the Phase 2 of academic year 2024-2025.
The admission will made by following recent changes by UGC regarding the use of NET scores for PhD admissions. This change offers candidates an easy path to pursue advanced research in Psychology.
Psychology Department at DU
The Psychology Department University of Delhi is renowned for its comprehensive research and training across multiple fields in psychology. The Major areas of Research in the Department of Psychology (DU) are Cognitive Psychology, Applied Developmental Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Clinical Psychology, Positive Psychology, Health Psychology, Environmental Psychology, and Applied Social Psychology.

Eligibility Criteria:
Based on the scores obtained in the UGC NET, applicants are categorized into three groups according to their NET qualification:
- Category 1: Qualified for JRF, Assistant Professor, and Ph.D. admission.
- Category 2: Qualified for Assistant Professor and Ph.D. admission.
- Category 3: Qualified for Ph.D. admission only.
Candidates who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/GATE and similar National level tests shall be eligible for admission to the PhD Programme based on an interview only.
For Categories 2 and 3, the University will give 70% weightage to NET scores and 30% weightage to the interview for admission to the PhD program.
For admission to Phase II of Ph.D. Program for the academic session 2024-2025, the scores
of NET Examination conducted in June 2024 and December 2024 (held on January 03 –
January 27, 2025) will be considered.
Note: NET scores are valid for one year for PhD admission under Categories 2 and 3.

Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field with 55% from a recognized university.

Note: Submission of a research proposal (1,500–2,500 words in APA format) is mandatory at the time of registration.

- SC/ST/PwBD: Rs. 300 per program
- UR/OBC-NCL/EWS: Rs. 750 per program
Selection Process:
- Candidates qualified in NET will be shortlisted based on NET scores and an interview. The combined merit of these will determine the final selection.

- Registration Closes: Friday, May 09, 2025
- Interviews: From Wednesday, May 13, 2025 to Friday June 06, 2025
- Recommendation of DRC and BRS: Till Friday June 13, 2025
- Last Date for Payment of Fees: Till Sunday June 15, 2025
